Are You Deaf?

Last night at work, one my lady co-workers started talking about how she has conversations with friends over the phone. She said that if her husband was sitting beside her, he would become curious as to what she and her friend were talking about over the phone.

After she had finished talking to her friend, her husband would inquire as to what all that "yes", "I see" and "okay" was all about. The lady would look at her husband dumbfounded and say "I don't know". She couldn't remember what they had been talking about. This person is a fairly smart and yet she cannot remember anything about the conversation.

It's a big problem with a large majority of people to only hear the person talking and fail to truly pay attention and listen. They are deaf. Not physically deaf, but they may as well be if their listening skills are hopeless.

Unless you only have conversations with your step-mother, you need to learn how to listen.

To learn how to do this, check out the article at EarthlingCommunication.com for active listening skills beyond hearing. You have a brain between your two ears, so let it understand what goes in one ear before it goes out the other.
